NORFOLK CAT GROOMER WELCOMES YOU WITH OPEN PAWS
GET TO KNOW US
Norfolk Cat Groomer is a mobile team which means we can groom even the most resistant cat in the safety of your home.
My name is Ellie Balding, I have always had a passion for cats, working at multiple catteries for over 6 years. I realised there was a need for a cat groomer in Norfolk, especially in North Norfolk (I am based in Sheringham), and thought how perfect that would be for me. I have completed a cat care course and a 'Certificate in Professional Cat Grooming' qualification which is Pet Industry Federation accredited. I am also trained in Practical Pet First Aid and recently completed 'The Complete Canine Health & First-Aid Course' and Behaviour for the Cat Groomer Course.
Hi, I'm Ellie's Mum, Amanda. I am supporting Ellie to establish her business and so did training in handling and control of cats. I am there to lend an extra pair of hands and extra strokes and cuddles.
We have 2 Cats, 1 black & white cat called Cassidy, who is our best friend and like our shadow. He is the face of Norfolk Cat Groomer, and is very proud of it, and Teddy our ginger boy, who is the naughtiest cat in the world, he is continuously playing and annoying Cassidy...

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHERE DO YOU GROOM MY CAT?
I groom your cat in your home, usually on my lap on a sofa or chair where they will feel most safe and secure. If needed, I do carry a grooming table in the car so I can use this if your cat would prefer this.
HOW MANY OF YOU WILL COME TO MY HOUSE?
There are two of us here at Norfolk Cat Groomer; Ellie (me!) & Amanda (my mum). I am the groomer, and my Mum is the treat and attention giver whilst I am grooming, we find this works well and we usually have success working this way.
DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING OR HAVE ANYTHING READY BEFOREHAND?
We come with everything we need, the only thing we ask is for a pet towel or blanket to be provided, to place on my lap. This will then have your home scent on it, making your cat feel more comfortable and keep the hair flying about to a minimum. If you do not have anything we could use, we do have a supply of towels in the car as well. If your cat has special dietary needs, it would be good if there was some type of food/treats that we can give them, to make them feel that the groom was a good experience.
HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH SCARED CATS?
Some cats can be very scared of new people and noises, we will try our best to keep it as calm as we can, and we will never let it become a horrible experience. We go entirely at the cat’s pace, providing treats (if allowed) and lots of praise. If your cat gets too stressed at any point, we will give them a break or end the groom and come back another time. By learning that we groom and then leave, the cat soon understands the process and relaxes.
HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH AGGRESSIVE CATS?
We have dealt with some very tricky cats in the past, we are always up for trying and see how far we can get. We have lots of different techniques that we can try, it is trial and error to see what is best for each individual cat. It could mean that we would need to complete the groom in multiple visits, and if so, you would only have to pay for the travel on the following visits.
DO CATS NEED A BATH?
I don’t bathe many cats, I only do it if it is absolutely necessary, this is because it makes the grooming process very long. Grooming salons have specialist sinks, but bathing a cat in a human bath is usually awkward and often I end up as wet as the cat! Blow-drying a cat using a noisy hairdryer for 30+ minutes, whilst brushing out to prevent matting can be stressful unless the cat is used to it. I can create quite a nice finish with a dry shampoo, so I like to try that first.
HOW OFTEN WILL MY CAT NEED GROOMING?
All cats are different, so it is very hard to tell without seeing them. I have some cats on a grooming schedule of every 4 weeks and some every 4 months. Most cats are every 6-8 weeks to prevent matting, whilst trimming the belly/bottom and cutting the nails.
DO YOU TAKE CASH AND CARD PAYMENTS?
Yes! We have a card machine and can take cash, whichever is easier for you.
PLEASE NOTE…
We always try our very best to get the timings of bookings correct, but grooms can sometime take less or more time than we expect, as a general rule we will always tell you if we are going to be more than 15 minutes early or late for your appointment.
If you do for any reason need to cancel, we ask for as much notice as possible.
Please get in touch with any questions, no matter how big or small...
